Children's Dentistry

The Importance of Dental Visits for Children

Children’s teeth are prone to cavities – more so than adults. There are several reasons for this susceptibility during their formative years. Often they do not brush thoroughly and miss certain areas of their teeth. We advise parents to oversee their daily dental hygiene to help them develop proper brushing and flossing habits to keep all their teeth clean and healthy.

Children also tend to eat throughout the day. Every time you eat, acids are produced in the mouth to break down foods. Continual exposure to acid can increase the number of cavities.

If teeth are improperly cleaned, that generates additional acid that further increases the rate of cavity development. Better brushing, healthier food choices, and an application of a dental sealant can greatly reduce the risk of a cavity.
