White Dental Fillings

No Metal Fillings
The silver-mercury amalgam has been a very common filling material used in dental practices. While some practices still use it, we use fillings that contain no metal. Amalgam fillings have some shortcomings, as metal does not adhere well to tooth enamel. The problem of decay eventually developing under this type of filling is common. Most patients object to the appearance of a dark filling in teeth, making it very noticeable and unattractive. The composite resins we use have no metal and bond very tightly to tooth structure. They can be made to match a tooth’s color, so they are nearly invisible. As they adhere well to a tooth, chances of decay starting under the filling are slight.
